// Who we are

Ghanaian-run, infrastructure-first.

African Towers Ltd was incorporated in Accra in 2009 by Ghanaian telecom professionals who saw a clearer path: instead of every mobile network operator building and maintaining its own mast, a single neutral-host company could own the passive infrastructure and lease space to all operators — reducing cost, accelerating rollout and cutting the visual footprint of telecoms in Ghanaian communities.

Today that vision underpins a portfolio of 250+ co-location sites across all 16 regions of Ghana — towers, rooftops, small cells, in-building DAS systems and dark-fibre links — serving MTN, AirtelTigo, Telecel and Surfline on shared, long-term anchor-tenant agreements.

Private-equity backed and operationally independent, African Towers is the only indigenous neutral-host towerco in Ghana with a track record stretching back to the country's first co-located in-building DAS deployment in 2011.

Mission

Make shared telecom infrastructure the default across Ghana — faster to deploy, cheaper to run and better for communities.

Vision

A fully connected Ghana where no community is more than 10 km from shared neutral-host infrastructure.

// How it works

One infrastructure. Every operator.

01

African Towers builds the site

We design, permit, build and own the passive infrastructure — the tower, rooftop structure, in-building cable plant, power system and backhaul link.

02

Operators lease space on it

Each MNO installs their own active equipment — radios, antennas, fibre terminations — under a long-term co-location agreement. One mast, three or four tenants.

03

We manage and maintain it

Our 24/7 NOC monitors every site. Power-as-a-service keeps uptime at 99.95%. MNOs focus on their network — not on generator maintenance.

// Why indigenous matters

Built in Ghana. Built for Ghana.

International towercos operate in Ghana, but African Towers is the only one incorporated here, owned here and run by people who have spent their careers in the Ghanaian telecoms sector. That matters in practice.

We hold direct relationships with the NCA, EPA and town planning authorities. We understand land tenure and community land rights. We know how to build in the rainy season and how to keep generators running through fuel shortages.

For MNOs looking to expand coverage outside Accra, that local depth shortens the timeline from site identification to first carrier by months.

  • Regulatory depth

    Direct NCA, EPA and local authority relationships built over 15 years.

  • Community relations

    Trusted locally — faster land access, fewer objections, smoother permitting.

  • Operational experience

    24/7 Ghanaian NOC and field teams who know every site and every substation.

  • Long-term commitment

    A Ghanaian company committed to Ghana's connectivity for the next 25 years.
